Select Your Brand

1

Open Dell Update or go to dell.com/support

Enter your Service Tag (sticker on the bottom of the PC). Navigate to Drivers & Downloads → BIOS category → download the latest .exe file.

2

Run the .exe file as Administrator

Right-click the downloaded file → “Run as administrator.” The Dell BIOS update utility will open and verify your hardware automatically.

✓ Verify the file version number matches what the support page shows before running.
3

Do not interrupt — wait for the full restart

Your PC will restart into a special update environment. A progress bar appears on screen. Takes 2–5 minutes. Do not press any keys or disconnect power.

4

Verify after restart: Win + R → msinfo32

Check that “BIOS Version/Date” matches the version you installed. If it matches, you’re done.

1

Open HP Support Assistant

Search for it in the Start menu. It automatically detects available BIOS updates for your exact model — the safest method for HP devices.

2

Or go to support.hp.com manually

Enter your product number (sticker on bottom of laptop). Select Software and Drivers → BIOS category → download latest version.

3

Run the update and wait

HP’s tool restarts your PC into update mode. Total time 3–8 minutes. Keep the PC plugged in throughout.

✓ HP may offer to create a BIOS recovery USB — optional but strongly recommended.
4

Verify in msinfo32 after reboot

Confirm the BIOS Version/Date field shows the new version. Done.

1

Open Lenovo Vantage

Go to Device → System Update. It detects available BIOS updates for your exact model. This is the safest and most reliable path for ThinkPad, IdeaPad, and Legion.

2

Or download manually from support.lenovo.com

Enter your serial number. Look for BIOS/UEFI updates in the drivers section. Download the correct .exe for your model.

3

Run the update and follow the wizard

Lenovo Vantage will refuse to proceed if battery is too low — this is intentional protection. The update runs during the restart cycle; ThinkPads show a progress indicator in the top-right corner.

1

Go to asus.com/support and find your exact model

Download the BIOS .zip file. Inside you’ll find the ROM file needed for the update.

2

For desktops: Use EZ Flash in BIOS settings

Copy the ROM file to a FAT32-formatted USB drive. Restart → press Delete or F2 → navigate to Tool → EZ Flash Utility → select the USB → select the file.

⚠️ USB must be FAT32. BIOS cannot read NTFS drives during the flash process.
3

For ASUS laptops: Use WinFlash utility

Download WinFlash from the ASUS support page. Run it in Windows and point it to the ROM file. Takes 3–7 minutes.

1

Find your exact motherboard model

Press Win + R → type msinfo32 → note “BaseBoard Product” and “BaseBoard Manufacturer.”

2

Go to your manufacturer’s support page

MSI: msi.com/support · Gigabyte: gigabyte.com/support · ASRock: asrock.com/support. Search for your exact board model and download the BIOS file.

3

Use the board’s built-in flash utility

Most desktop boards have a BIOS-level utility (MSI M-FLASH, Gigabyte Q-Flash, ASRock Instant Flash). Copy file to FAT32 USB → enter BIOS → use the utility.

✓ Using a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) during desktop updates is recommended by IT professionals.

Almost done — but there’s one more thing most guides don’t tell you:
